Get to Know Alexander L. Harris, DDS

When Dr. Harris decided to start Woodbine Dental, he made it his mission to help people feel comfortable in what is often an uncomfortable place—the dental office. That’s why he goes out of his way to explain everything to his patients, because the opposite of anxiety is understanding in many cases. Being born and raised in Ooltewah, nothing makes him happier than serving his local community and seeing the immediate relief on someone’s face when he’s reassured them and fixed whatever is causing their pain. A big part of his practice is also using his skills for mission work, delivering essential care to underserved populations around the world.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

When Dr. Harris was in the third grade, he suffered a dental injury that required multiple procedures and several hours in the treatment chair. His dentist ensured he felt calm and comfortable throughout the entire process. The experience left a deep impression on Dr. Harris and inspired him. He wanted to be able to help others in need feel the same way he did, and it set him on the path he still walks today.

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Harris completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Adventist University, earning a degree in biology, and he went on to attend Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in California. During dental school, he actively participated in dental mission trips and numerous free dental clinics, further strengthening his commitment to serving patients with empathy and excellence.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Dr. Harris resides in Cleveland with his wife, Stephanie, their daughter, Josephine, and their two dogs, Cooper and Murphey. At home, he enjoys cheering on the Tennessee Vols and Titans, hiking, and spending quality time with friends and family. Dr. Harris is proud to serve his community and strives to provide gentle, high-quality dental care for patients of all ages.
